Apart from updating the patterns of the camouflage coat, the researchers also commit themselves to develop a new “adaptable camouflage pattern” which could adapt to the surrounding environments.
One company from Holland is researching the adaptable camouflage pattern which also nicknamed as Chameleonic Camouflage Pattern. They embedded LBD into the fabric-like plastic foil, and then scan the surrounding environments with a microcamera, therewith the colors and patterns would change with the surroundings accordingly. However, the flexibility of the material still needs improvement.
Another “Adaptable Camouflage Pattern” functions as flexible plastic paper transfer. First the microcamera drived by the solar battery will record the colors and patterns of the surroundings, and then it would copy the surroundings with one papery flectional display screen on the surface of the plastic paper transfer. It could reach high camouflage performance, however the cost is too high to apply it in the battlefield.
